Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 20/25 kts Surf / Sea State: large swell rough Air Temperature: warmish Sea Temperature: warm Weather: cloudy sunny Max Speed: 24.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 14.3 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Haven't sailed for 3 weeks so knew it would be a hard sail. 2 out on
arrival at 2pm, tide going out and with wind. It was rough on arrival but
improved time I rigged. The guys were on 4.7 and 5m so went with 6.2
hellcat/ 111L JP Magic ride pro as it measured 20kts on my gauge. Waves
were rolling in but the sea was confused and a little light in shore but
windy near the buoys. I didn't dare sheet in near the buoys as very rough.
In fact I didn't sheet in most of the session as gusts were prob 25+ so
didn't want any speed. I wasn't comfortable and getting wet most gybes, so
getting very tired. Windsurf fitness relies time on water I think, not
gyms, so I was knackered after 4 runs. Andy M, Paul D relished the
conditions and were going well so was Simon and Nath. Ian turned up with
Swainey later and milked it on 6.0. It was a little lighter and the sea
looked better (always does when looking from shore eh!). It was a nice
sail, but prefer it flatter, although lots of swell to gybe off on the
outer. Didn't do any speed runs just run down wave faces and thru troughs.
Not bad
